There are many signs to make us think of a new strategic relationship between Russia and Israel.
Overall, we can now assume that the Jewish State is already evaluating the US disengagement from the Middle East - and is thus trying to define a policy to "replace" it by improving connections with the Russian Federation.
Obviously the bad personal relations between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu carry considerable weight, but we are witnessing a real redefinition of the entire region’s geopolitical equilibrium. Also, the US and EU’s slapdash attitude toward the JCPOA treaty on Iranian civilian/military nuclear power, rightly criticized by Prime Minister Netanyahu and the whole Israeli establishment, had significant influence.
Russia, which has already "won" its war in Syria, and Israel, which has drawn all the geopolitical consequences of the "Arab springs" and the ambiguous initial US support for the anti-Assad Syrian “rebels”, are almost alone redesigning the map of Greater Middle East. Whatever happens in Syria from now on, the US is destined to be progressively marginalized both in the Sunni and Shiite regions, no longer having the clout it had a few years ago in a series of alliances (with Russia, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Jordan).
The signs of a "new start" for Russian-Israeli relations are manifold. Suffice to think of Russia returning an M48 Patton Israeli tank captured by the Syrians in the 1982 Lebanon War during an ambush near Sultan Yaakov in which the three tank drivers were killed. The tank was sent by Hafez el Assad to Moscow for study by Soviet technical and intelligence services, and later placed in the Tank Museum of Kubinka... (even if it was the wrong one)
Food for Thought by Steven Shamrak
The Western countries are vigorously opposing people’s negative attitude toward Islamic-Terrorism, calling it Islamophobia! At the same time, there are no real efforts to fight the rise of anti-Semitism ‘inspired’ by the new arrivals, Muslims anti-Semites. Horrors of WW2 are conveniently forgotten, and anti-Semitism is becoming ‘fashionable’ again!
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has found a way to end Israel’s part in helping the Palestinian Authority pay Arab terrorists to murder innocent people. The PM ordered the government to deduct funds PA pays to terrorists and their families from tax revenues collected by Israel and transferred to Ramallah coffers.
A terror cell which exploded the bombs and planned more attacks has been captured. This has got to be one of the strangest Arab terror cells captured to date in Israel. Three of the five Arab terrorists are dentists and one is a (male) nurse. So much for the theory that well-educated, upper-middle class Muslims will not get involved in terror.
The group of nine Leftist Israeli activists were attacked on the way to an Iftar meal in Ramallah, than ejected by the PA police force. The group was 'welcomed' in the manner reserved for most other Jews. The activists themselves saw things quite differently - and some of the things that occurred apparently they did not see at all. (Even after abuse from their ‘friends’ they are still blinded by self-hating delusion!)
Family of 17-year-old Mohammed Taraireh who murdered 13-year-old Hallel Yafa Ariel in her bed, praise his actions. Taraireh climbed over the security fence surrounding Kiryat Arba's Harsanina neighborhood, infiltrated one of the and stabbed Hallel to death. After the attack, the 17-year-old terrorist's house was decorated with Fatah and PLO flags. (Hallel Yafa Ariel was a US citizen! Will Obama condemn this terror act?)
Chabad of Morocco joins Christian-Jewish fellowship and a local Muslim group in effort to provide food for needy Muslim families on Ramadan.
The United States supports the PA with over $400 million annually, even though US law forbids taxpayer support of any group heavily influenced by Hamas, which the State Department designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 1997. (Not a single bigot has complained about this ‘foreign aid’!)
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani blamed Israel for conflicts between Muslim nations and groups throughout the Middle East. Rouhani said “Zionists are trying to make others forget their crimes and make the Muslims, the regional people and the world forget the oppressed Palestine and the savagery of the Zionists." They were doing this, he said, through “behind-the-scenes attempts, terror, and creating conflicts among the regional and Muslim world countries and Muslim against Muslim and Muslim against Christian wars in recent years.” (Usual rhetoric of delusional anti-Semites!)
The Israeli security cabinet approved a reconciliation deal with Turkey by a vote of 7-3. Three conditions on the part of Israel are to be met: (1) an official apology for the 2010 flotilla incident is to be issued, (2) as well as $20 million in compensation for families of those killed. In addition, (3) Turkey will be permitted to deliver aid to Gaza by way of the Israeli port of Ashdod. (What will Turkey do?)
Quote of the Week:
"How can we expect the world to speak in our favor and win for us if we don't do so ourselves? If we stand up for ourselves, the world will respect that. The world respects nations that respect themselves." - Naftali Bennett – I have written many times “Nobody respects those who have no self-respect!”
United We Can Achieve It!
Steven Shamrak (written Feb 2011)
We write good articles full of facts supporting the rights of Israel to exist and exposing lies of our enemies, protest anti-Israel media bias, sign an endless stream of petitions, call our political representatives and still wonder why nothing has changed. Meanwhile, the situation in Israel is getting worse! All of these activities are very important, but in order to defeat our enemies and bring peace to Israel, if we honestly examine the history, we have to admit that these efforts will never change the world’s attitude toward Jews and Israel. It has never really worked! Only a strong Israel and a self-respecting Jewish nation will be able to change the current ugly reality.
We must set our own goals, develop plan of action and execute it. That’s what people do in sports, business and in their personal life to make a difference. The biggest secret is - any goal can be achieved - one just needs to have a burning desire, followed by action, to achieve it!
Our enemies love when we squander our time and resources on a rebuttal of their stupid accusations and anti-Israel smear campaigns. This takes our attention away from the pursuit of our national goals. Hazborah is an important part of the process of defeating enemy propaganda, but it leads nowhere without action toward reunification of all Jewish land, freeing it from Arab occupation and reunification of all Eretz-Israel!
Unfortunately we have corrupt and inept current Jewish political leadership in Israel and in the Diaspora at the moment! Therefore, only the network of people dedicated to true Zionist ideals can make a difference. Idealists who are united by one goal are needed!
Currently, our most important step must be to unite and combine our efforts in order to become a more effective and formidable political force. The goal is much bigger than just promoting support for Israel, because unfortunately for quite a while Israeli governments have not been representing Zionism – the Jewish independence movement. There is another two-state solution, which may bring peace to Israel. It is the Sinai Option!
In order to achieve our goal we need less debate and more unity! Unity will come with the right Zionist leadership!
