Disproportionate Response is Needed!

This is a time for solidarity and reflection, not politics. I can’t help thinking about what French president François Hollande said, following the recent horrific Islamist terror attacks in Paris:

“This is an act of war. Our response will be merciless.”

Have I heard it right? Shouldn’t he say:

“Our response will be measured” or “Our response will be proportionate”, or

“Our response will show restraint and regard for innocent Caliphate lives while at the same time acknowledging that the Islamic State may have some legitimate concerns that will need to be addressed”.

But I didn't hear that... None of it!

I didn't hear John Kerry calling for both France and ISIS to lay down their weapons and go to the negotiating table - as if they were equals.

I didn't hear the UN Security Council calling for an emergency session to pass a resolution condemning France for its “disproportionate” response, bombing a ISIS command center in Raqqa.

And the reason I did not hear any of that is because such a scenario during a war would be absurd, irrational and outrageous beyond measure.

People understand that, if indeed Hollande honours his promise, there will be civilian collateral damage. Not because France does not care about innocent lives, but because it is an integral part of Jihadi ideology to use women, children, the elderly and the infirm as human shields. There will undoubtedly be innocents in the Caliphate that will die as a result – and ISIS will use its social media machinery to publicize that. And yet, everyone (except for the many Jihadi-sympathizers in the far-Left) understands this is simply the tragic reality of war.

In a moment like this everyone understands that the citizens of France have rights to live in peace, and that its government has a moral duty and an obligation to protect its citizens, regardless of the cost.

In a moment like this everyone finally understands, unfortunately only momentarily, that Islamism is a cancer – and you don’t coexist with a cancer, you don’t appease a cancer, you don’t make goodwill gestures to a cancer and you don't sit at a negotiating table with a cancer. You destroy the cancer or the cancer destroys you.

In a moment like this everyone understands that the only way to defeat evil is to stand up to evil.

Of course it that does not apply to Israel - any country but Israel!

Regarding Israel common sense, logic and even international laws are disregarded and conveniently forgotten. Suddenly and quite predictably, the world understands nothing at all!

Unwilling and Short Praise of Israel from a ‘Friend’

Speaking at the panel at the Halifax International Security Forum, US Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert Work simply answered “yes” when asked by a panel member if Israel had done the proper thing regarding the Syrian nuclear plant. (Being cornered by a direct question he had no other choice but to say the truth)

'Friendly' Neighbour of Israel

Jordanian census officials were forced to remove Israel as a possible place of birth from census forms due to a huge public uproar on social network sites. Public figures, politicians and trade unions called for a boycott of the census, arguing that the reference to Israel erases the Palestinian identity and indicates a normalization of relations with Israel and the Jews. (They would love instead to “erase” Jewish identity and have no interest in normalization of relations with Israel!)

Another Missile Defence Success

Israel held the first successful operational test for Barak 8 missile. The system is to serve as protection against sophisticated missiles held by Hezbollah, like the Russian-built Yakhont (P-800 Oniks) - an advanced cruise missile system that Russia sold to Syria.

US Coalition Killed 250 Civilians in Syria

At least 3,952 people have been killed in the US-led coalition's campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group in Syria. The death toll included a total of 250 civilians. (Russia has killed even more civilians in Syria. Where is the international condemnation and outcries for “proportionate response”? Where are UNSC emergency meetings and resolutions?)

Result of Inaction and Procrastination

Iran is “closer than ever” to the bomb, and completing it would be “easier than putting in a contact lens,” claims Hassan Karimpour, an adviser to Iran’s Quds Force commander Qassem Suleimani. This is after the Iranian regime has repeatedly vowed that it is not seeking a nuclear weapon, and spiritual leader Ali Khamenei has issued fatwas forbidding nuclear weapons! (The US prevented Israel from striking Iranian nuclear program facilities. As a result, after several years of deliberately procrastinational ‘negotiations’, the world is facing a threat of nuclear-armed Iran!)

Disproportionate Investigations Impair IDF Morale

Field commanders in Judea and Samaria have complained to battalion and brigade commanders that they do not receive the backing of the military apparatus with regard to investigations of incidents in which soldiers shoot at rioters. “In each event that involves killing a civilian who was not involved in terrorism, the Military Police opens an investigation,” the field officers said, asking: “But since when are investigations launched against soldiers who fired at Molotov cocktail throwers, or key instigators, who got killed? Who determines what’s life threatening? Who says a Molotov cocktail thrower is uninvolved?”

(They still don’t get it, all so-called Palestinian groups have one common goal - destruction of the Jewish state!)

Turkish Hypocrisy

Erdogan hit out at Russia, arguing that their military campaign is targeting many groups opposed to Syrian president al-Assad, and not only Islamic State. "Daesh (Islamic State) terrorists are not present in the area where Syrian Turkmen are living. Nobody should try to lure people. Only Syrian Turkmen who are our relatives are living in that region. They are ostensibly striking against Daesh but they are hitting Syrian Turkmen and Syrian Turkmen are trying to defend their land." (Erdogan did not care about Turkey attacking Kurds, who are effectively fighting ISIS, in Iraq and Syria!)

Nuclear Deal with Iran is anti-Israel Scam!

The Obama administration has disclosed to Congress that this summer’s controversial nuclear arms agreement with Iran was never signed and is not legally binding. The agreement, as submitted to Congress in July, does not bear the signature of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Congress took a series of votes in September on the deal, but never formally approved it – a step that was ultimately considered unnecessary by the White House since President Obama could have vetoed any attempt to strike it down. (IAEA head Yukiya Amano warns he cannot guarantee that all of Iran's nuclear material is dedicated solely to peaceful activities.)

A national religious kibbutz located in the Jordan Valley has grown spiders that will be flown to Colombia, fight enemies of crops. They are kept refrigerated and then reproduce after being released in warm air at their destination. They will be multiplied to 600 million to eat up spiders half their size.
