Bad Loser Behaviour!
The illegal destruction of the documents was performed at the instruction of former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, just before Prime Minister Naftali Bennett took office. Netanyahu had declined to take part in the traditional transition ceremony, and the brief meeting (30 minutes) took place behind closed doors, with no statement to the press.
Likud and the other opposition parties apparently played hardball with Israel’s new government, refusing to support a security-focused bill (so-called family reunification law), which prohibits Palestinians who marry Israelis from gaining Israeli citizenship, which they would likely have backed had they been in the governing coalition.
Opposition parties, led by former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, are making good on threats against the new coalition. Likud party submitted a no-confidence motion against the new government, three days after the long-serving former premier was replaced by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. A separate no-confidence motion was filed by Shas and United Torah Judaism. It would require 61 of the Knesset’s 120 lawmakers to back it. However, it does not appear that Likud has such support.
Even after Bennett was sworn in as Prime Minister, the opposition Leader Benjamin Netanyahu and his family are still living at the Prime Minister’s Residence in Jerusalem. The family is expected to remain at the official home of Israel’s head of government for several more weeks, at least. PM Bennett has conveyed a message to his predecessor that he must vacate the official PM's Residence within two weeks.
Food for Thought. by Steven Shamrak
After Hamas had fired rockets at Israel, several times, the Jewish state was conducting defensive wars against the enemy. Israel has the right to decisively defeat Hamas, to remove enemy supporting population from Jewish land, and to annex Gaza! Many sovereign countries have done it in the past, and would do it now. Israel needs self-respectful political leadership to do it. Next time Hamas attacks, the political leaders of Israel must not hesitate!
In a rare move, reportedly due to US pressure, Israel joined a declaration this week criticizing China at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) over human-rights abuses against Muslims living in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Israel’s new message to China seems to be: “If you do not stop voting against us at the UN, we will start voting against you.” Israeli Ambassador to the United States and the United Nations Gilad Erdan is believed to have sent China this very warning back in October 2020.
A graduation ceremony at an eastern Jerusalem high school turned into incitement as Palestinian students and staff chanted anti-Israel slogans and waved the PA flags. “In spirit and blood we will redeem Al Aqsa,” chanted the crowd at Beit Safafa High School, which is under the jurisdiction of the Israeli Ministry of Education.
Honduras is the fourth country to inaugurate an embassy in Jerusalem, joining the United States, Kosovo and Guatemala. The president of Honduras arrived especially for the event.
Bennett-Lapid government made its first construction approvals in Judea and Samaria. Among other things, a school for children with special needs was approved in Elkana, a mall in Mishor Adumim and seminaries and synagogues in the localities of Karnei Shomron and Kfar Adumim. A total of 31 plans were approved in various phases. (Hopefully, they will not be postponed the way the previous government did!)
Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas lauded Arab terrorists and rioters involved in attacks on Israeli security personnel and Jews living in Judea and Samaria. Abbas praised “the martyrs, the prisoners, and those wounded in the conflict with Israel.” He also expressed thanks to anti-Israel (anti-Semitic) protesters around the world. (There is no difference between Hamas, the PA or Fatah. They use different methods with the same aim - destruction of Israel and killing Jews! Hamas leaders are honest about their goal; the PA is ‘playing’ diplomacy game.)
The lower house of the Polish parliament approved a bill against Holocaust survivors seeking compensation for the theft of their property. Under the bill, pending property claims, which have not been settled in the past 30 years, will be discontinued or struck down. (Three years ago, Poland made it illegal to say the country was complicit in Nazi war crimes.)
The Likud party has issued an exceptional announcement, listing the names of three MKs who were absent from the Knesset plenum session without advance permission. “We will only bring this left-wing government down if we maintain iron discipline.” (While Likud leadership is concerned with downing the current government more than the future of Israel, the members are losing interest in this personal political survival battle of former Prime Minister Netanyahu!)
The Saudi Foreign Minister met with the IAEA chief to underline the importance of comprehensive inspection of all Iranian nuclear sites. They stressed the need for the end of Iranian violations of international laws and norms that destabilize the security and stability of the region and the world. Iran and Saudi Arabia are regional rivals that back opposing sides in the war in Yemen. Saudi Arabia has been critical of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, describing it as a "flawed agreement". (Saudi Arabia could be a good ally of Israel when the time comes to stop Iranian nukes!)
Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar said on Monday that his meeting with a UN delegation over Gaza's humanitarian situation was "completely negative". The UN delegation "heard from us with interest and deep concerns, but unfortunately there are no indications of any good intentions toward solving a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip." (Could it be that the UN, 'Ugly Nazi, has had enough with the terror infested population of Gaza?)
Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar raised demands for the immediate transfer of Qatari cash to the Gaza Strip. He called for the transfer of $30 million per month. Otherwise, Hamas would escalate the security situation through violent disturbances on the border and the launching of more arson balloons into southern Israel. (It sounds like a blackmail, or is it a payoff demand for recent rocket attacks on Israel?)
Israel is negotiating with three countries that have expressed interest in acquiring around one million doses of the Pfizer COVID vaccine rejected by the Palestinian Authority. Hours after signing the agreement to receive the vaccines, the PA backtracked and said the doses were too close to expiring and did not meet their standards. (The enemies have 'high standards' and expertise in slandering Israel!)
The Defense Ministry has successfully carried out a series of interceptions downing several drones with a powerful airborne laser system installed on a civilian aircraft. It successfully intercepted and destroyed 100% of the UAVs launched during the test. “This is the first time in Israel, perhaps the world, that this was done,” said Brig.-Gen. Yaniv Rotem, head of military research and development at the Ministry of Defense. “This is a ground-breaking technological achievement, which is a critical tier for further development.” The system can intercept the target “regardless of weather conditions.”
This shocking amount of violence, all on one single, random day of the week, is what Arab citizens of Israel have been contending with in recent years. In an Arab town in northern Israel two masked men started shooting another man as he stepped outside. Meanwhile in Nazareth, an official in the local municipality was shot in his lower body and taken to a local hospital. A 22-year-old man was shot in the Bedouin town of Tel Sheva, in the Negev Desert. Later at night, three residents of the nearby Arab village of Beit Jann were taken to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya, suffering from stab wounds believed to be the result of a brawl. (Most of them hate Israel and Jews, but they hate each other even more, because of their different tribal, religious and ethnic background!)
The world’s first industrial cultured meat facility has opened in the city of Rehovot. With the capability to produce 500 kilograms (1,102 pounds) of cultured products a day, equivalent to 5,000 hamburgers, this facility makes expandable cell-based meat production a reality. Future Meat’s cruelty-free production process is expected to generate 80 percent lower greenhouse emissions and use 99 percent less land and 96 percent less freshwater than traditional meat production.
The Arab sector is falling behind in an increasingly online world, a study found; 33% of Israeli Arabs have no internet access and 87% do not know how to send emails, shop online or study via Zoom. The study showed that only 13% of Israeli Arabs have moderate or high-level digital skills compared to 59% of non-Haredi Israeli Jews.
Quote of the Week:
“Our patience has run out. We shall no longer tolerate drip-dropping attacks from the Gaza Strip. The Israelis who suffer them are not second-class citizens. Our enemies had better learn the new rules.” - Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
The Necessity to Remember.
by Steven Shamrak.
Since the end of WW2, May 2nd has been established as an auspicious day, Yom Hashoah – Day of Remembrance, in the Jewish calendar! It is one day each year when Jews around the world remember the six million Jewish lives that were lost during the Holocaust. It must never happen again; we say it again and again. Please remind your friends and members of your family. Israeli and other politicians especially need this reminder. It seems that they have forgotten it! Someone wrote:
“When my grandfather left Europe in 1935,
a graffiti on the walls said:
Jews, go to Palestine!
And now, when I visit Europe, they say:
Jews, get out of Palestine!
What short memories these Europeans have!”
Make no mistake, the region of the Middle East commonly called “Palestine”, is historically, spiritually and legally Jewish land! The sooner we all realise it, the sooner we’ll be able to free Eretz-Israel of its enemies and bring peace to Israel. It is time to look for workable, alternative solutions to the conflict. The bogus peace process does not work. It is easier to deter external enemies! We said, “Never again”, but have continued to allow enemies of the Jews to terrorise Israel for over 70 years.
At the same time, non-Jews must realize that the remembrance of the Holocaust is not about Jews only. It is also about death of 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians including 1,900 Catholic priests who were murdered, massacred, raped, burned, starved and humiliated by Nazis with the help of ordinary Germans, Austrians, Poles, Latvians, Ukrainians, Russians and others who looked the other way or actively participated in genocide! It is also about millions of Germans who lost their lives; it the madness of WW2 and their children and the grandchildren who carried the shame of Nazi Germany.
Remembrance of the Holocaust, contrary to common belief, is not about guilt, shame or even financial compensation. It is about the future of the humanity! We must end the pattern of hate and violence of human society. It destroys humanity and our planet. Since WW2, the world has again allowed genocides in Cambodia, Ruanda, Yugoslavia and Sudan! It is time for humanity to learn the lesson!
