The Case for a Larger
Israel.

When I was an active litigator, I kept in mind what
decent lawyers know: if someone sues your client, it is generally advisable to
sue back. With a countersuit in place, the dynamics of the negotiation changes.
Each side may be owed something, and advocates and peacemakers alike must take
this into account when proposing a settlement.
As of yet, Israel’s advocates have not presented a
credible countersuit against those who demand that Israel withdraw to its
pre-1967 borders. No one has effectively put forth a case that Israel, to be a
self-sustaining viable State, must have adequate territory, and that a
self-sustaining viable Israel not only serves the interests of peace, but also
greatly benefits humanity otherwise. A more balanced negotiation, and a more
enduring peace between Israel and her neighbours will arise from advancing this
case. Only by laying out this argument will Israel’s full needs be taken into
account when the time comes to set regional borders.
The international consensus solution, two States -
one Israeli, one Palestinian—within the confines of Israel, Gaza and the West
Bank - is based on fatally flawed assumptions. Even if two such States could be
delineated by fiat, doing so would not produce a lasting peace. Neither State
would be viable. And with ever advancing technology, and ever more powerful
arsenals, it should be clear that failure to achieve true peace may eventually
lead to a much wider and more lethal war.
Therefore, the assumptions underlying these
international proposals must be revisited. The problem must be considered anew.
A better approach to a sustainable peace must be found and pursued.
For the sake of Israelis and Arabs, lasting peace and
the betterment of humanity, the failed status quo must change. Israel must
exist on a plot of land large enough for it to be self-reliant. Palestinian
Arabs must also either have their own plot of land large enough to create a
viable State, or, they must be afforded the opportunity to achieve full
self-determination as citizens of other Arab States.
Still
Delusional. The "Convergence Plan" – the idea of
forcibly expelling many tens of thousands of Jews from communities in Judea and
Samaria in a unilateral move – is still viable, according to Deputy Prime
Minister Shimon Peres (Leader of Labor party). Asked on Saturday whether the
"dismantling" of settlements was still on the government's agenda,
Peres said: "Settlements will be removed…” Peres' statement appears to be
at odds with previous statements by Olmert, that he had abandoned the
unilateralist approach after debacle war in Lebanon.
Justice
Under Political Pressure. Last Tuesday, Israel's high court
delayed the release of the first official report on the State's conduct during
the Lebanon war, giving a respite to beleaguered Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
The inquiry is one of several probes into the conduct of the army and
government in the July-August war, when northern Israel was hit by over 4,000
rockets fired by Lebanon's Shiite militia, Hezbollah. Olmert and Defence
Minister Amir Peretz have rejected public calls to resign over the war's
failure.
Food for Thought. by Steven Shamrak
Throughout
history, up to 20 million Africans have been enslaved by Arabs. The slave trade
is still an ugly reality of the present. Surprisingly, there are no calls for
an apology, compensation by oil-rich Arab countries or reconciliation. What a
hypocritical world we are living in!
Six Qassam
missiles were fired from Gaza last week, even after the Russian foreign
minister reported that Hamas had promised to end its violence against Israel,
including missile attacks. – The words of the
Liars (Hamas, Russia, the UN, etc) have no value.
Endless Self-Hate. Israeli left-wing
activists, together with foreign PLO supporters, plan to build outpost
settlements and plant trees on behalf of Arab residents in Judea and Samaria.
The land of which they are seeking to take control, in some cases, is defined
as State land, making the construction illegal.
Silencing
Zionists in Israel. Israel’s authorities are conducting a
witch-hunt against supporters of original Zionism. Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, a
leader of a hard-line Orthodox rabbinical forum, was taken into custody on
suspicion of inciting violence, after he described Maj. Gen. Yair Naveh, chief
of Israeli forces in the West Bank, as a “moser” or “betrayer of Jews”.
Low
Expectations are Met. No one expected that the tripartite
American-Israeli-Palestinian summit would make any startling breakthroughs. For
days, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud
Olmert and PA President Mahmoud Abbas had been lowering expectations. (And
they were not disappointed! What was the point of the meeting? - Another
useless photo-op, pretending that the ‘road map’ is still alive, duping Jews
into the continuation of a policy leading inevitably toward self-destruction!)
Desecration
of Ancient Mt. Olives Graves. The ancient Jewish cemetery on
the Mt. of Olives, overlooking Jerusalem's Old City is being frequently
vandalised. There is extensive desecration of many graves at the site including
graffiti and smashed headstones. "If such vandalism as the smashing of
headstones and the desecration of graves had occurred in a Jewish cemetery in
Europe, I am convinced that the entire Jewish world would be shocked…” said
Knesset Member Zevulun Orlev.
Quote of the Week:
"[The Israelis] claim that 2000 years ago they had a
Temple. I challenge the claim that this is so. But even if it is so, we do not
accept [Israeli’s claims on the Temple Mount] it." - Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), August 25, 2000 - View
of a ‘Moderate’ Arab leader! Their goal is the
annihilation of Israel. Negotiation is just a tool!
New
International Assault on Israel. A UN report accuses Israel of apartheid
and terrorism. The media regularly blame Israel for the PA’s woes. The Arab
states slam Temple Mount work as anti-Muslim. (Whenever
Arabs break their agreements with Israel and increase their terrorist activity
against Jews, the UN and the international pack of dogs initiate a barking
campaign against Israel!!)
When Will the Humiliation End?
The dig, 50-60 meters from the Temple Mount compound where the al Aqsa Mosque
is situated, has sparked a spate of Muslim propaganda protests. Teams of
UNESCO, Turkish and Jordanian experts are coming to study Israel’s
archaeological dig. (When will the Israeli politicians realize that they are
leaders of a sovereign State? It is time to shake off the galut slave’s
mentality!)
Arabs
Support One-state Solution. The overwhelming majority of Palestinians
(94%) support the Mecca agreement. 75% of Palestinians do not think that [in
principle] Israel has the right to exist. 70% support One State. (So
do I, as a Jewish State without our enemies in it!)
UNRWA’s Money Pit. On Wednesday, the United Nations asked for $26 million totally
remodel a Syrian camp that originally housed troops in the Second World War,
and that has been home to 18,000 Palestinian refugees for 60 years. (The Arab countries
artificially maintain the ‘refugee problem’ and the anti-Semitic international
community is only too happy to facilitate this fraud!)
Israel
Must Remain Jewish. Heads of the Druze and Circassian
communities in Israel objected on Thursday to Adalah’s proposal to end the
Jewish character of the state of Israel. Adalah, an Israeli Arab group, called
for Israel to be defined as multicultural rather than Jewish. The group also
asked that the Law of Return, which allows Jews to return to Israel, be
cancelled in favor of a law encouraging mass Arab immigration. (The
Arabs just want to make a second Lebanon, which used to be Christian country,
out of Israel. In their vocabulary, Multicultural means Arab and Muslim! The
Druze and Circassians understand the Arabs’ nature better!)
Result of Oslo
Education Program. A new poll released by
Near East Consulting, a Palestinian research institute, asked Palestinians,
"Does Israel have the right to exist?" Among young people ages 18-25,
those who have been most influenced by PA education, between 84% and 93% denied
Israel's right to exist. PA teachings denying Israel's right to exist are
endemic throughout PA society. (At
the same time, Jews are brain-washed into self-denial of their rights to
Eretz-Israel, the Land of Israel!)
Israel a “Vital Friend”. A new Gallup poll shows that more than half of American citizens
consider Israel to be a "vital friend" in the Middle East. 63 percent
– rated Israel favourably, The Palestinian Authority was rated close to the
bottom of the list at 16 percent, only one percent higher than Iraq at 15
percent. (Despite the policy of
duplicity conducted by the US, Israel is the only true friend the Americans
have in the Middle East!)
Another Jewish
‘Jester’ is Sacrificed.
Former senior
White House official, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, was convicted on four
out of five charges of perjury and obstruction of justice, but not for the
disclosure of CIA agent’s identity. Libby, who is Jewish, was Mr Cheney's chief
of staff and a senior national security adviser to the Vice-President and Mr
Bush. He was also a key player in making the case for war in Iraq and his
conviction will revive serious questions about whether the Bush Administration
misused intelligence to invade that country.
The White House anticipates Libby putting
Cheney on the defensive with claims that the Vice-President ordered Libby to
relay classified information – a charge that could lead to a congressional
probe and even impeachment proceedings. US President George Bush and
Vice-President Dick Cheney issued statements saying they were
"saddened" and "disappointed" respectively by the jury's
decision. (Crocodile tears! Libby is going to
prison for doing his master’s dirty work. When Jews do a great job, ‘masters’
take the credit. When blunders are made, Jews are most likely to be made the
scapegoat!)
