Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said Saturday that he does not view Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas as a partner for peace, noting that he does not believe peace will happen in his generation.
"I've discovered this conflict is about the entire Palestine, they don't recognize our right to exist here... it is impossible to make an agreement without there being recognition on the other side of our right to exist as the national homeland of the Jewish people." "Abu Mazen (Abbas) is a partner that receives but not a partner that gives. He's not a partner for a final accord that ends with the recognition of the State of Israel," Ya'alon said.
The issue of Palestinian recognition of Israel as a Jewish state has lately overshadowed other stumbling blocks over borders, refugees and the status of Jerusalem.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was the first Israeli Prime Minister to make recognizing Israel as a "Jewish" state a central issue of peace negotiations, calling it the root of the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis.

Israel has much to learn from Russia how to plan and expedite, when opportunity presented itself, reunification of national land and how to ignore useless ‘outrage’ of international hypocrites. Judea, Samaria and Gaza are, historically and legally, Jewish ancestral land - regardless of the shift in public opinion which anti-Semitic propaganda has quite successfully achieved during years of the ‘media war’ assault on Israel.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan threatened to shut down Twitter and other social media platforms last Friday. Hours later, the government had shut down access to Twitter in most parts of the country. Turkey's leader has been under mounting pressure after audio recordings allegedly showed his involvement in corruption, and others portraying him interfering in business deals, court cases and media coverage. “We’ll eradicate Twitter. I don’t care what the international community says,” Erdoğan said. (“With the friend like this…!”)

Due to the political upheaval in Ukraine and Russia’s hosting of the Olympics this month, there has been a feeling among opposition that it can score important points on the ground.
Saudi Arabia in recent days has massively stepped up its support for the jihadists fighting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The Saudis have been pumping large quantities of advanced weapons to the so-called rebels, including anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles.
The newly armed opposition has already hit two Syrian military helicopters, one near the Golan Heights and the other outside Damascus. The successful implementation of the anti-aircraft missiles has prompted the Syrian military to rely more on Syrian aircraft, with some Syrian warplanes flying close to the Israeli border for the first time since 1974. (Weapons that are so eagerly sold to the Saudis by the United States are now in the hands of jihadi terrorists. Many of them, upto 9,000 - already “radicalised”, came from Western countries to gain proper training and experience in order to bring terror back home. It makes US administration a friend of the jihadists!)
