Can Israel Rely on US?

by Rachel Neuwirth

In May 1967, Egyptian dictator Gamal Nasser unilaterally demands and gets the prompt removal of United Nations monitors in the Sinai, so he could move his large Egyptian army towards the Israeli border. Inexplicably, the US remains passive to this dangerous development.

Nasser blockades the Straits of Tiran, an act of war, which denies Israeli shipping from its southern port of Eilat. Israel appeals to the US to honour its 1957 promise to back Israel in case Egypt blocks Israeli access. The US refuses to act. Tiny Holland offers to join an international naval convoy to break the Egyptian blockade…

President Lyndon Johnson fails to find a diplomatic solution. He offers no aid to Israel's suffering economy, no warning to the Arabs not to attack and no offer to aid Israel if the Arabs attack. Instead, he asks Israel to refrain from any military action… (The US pressure on Israel to accept a two-state solution, which was not a part of Oslo agreement, is even more dangerous now than inaction was 50 years ago!)

Food for Thought. by Steven Shamrak

The US is getting much more for ‘per dollar’ spent in Israel: In projects such as the combined US-Israel anti-missile defence of Europe from ‘Muslim’ rockets; It costs at least 50,000 to keep a US soldier overseas; strategic weapon storage and Israel’s highways are the biggest aircraft carrier in the region! For the last 5 years Pakistan has received 1 billion a year from the US for fighting terror. WHAT A JOKE! Nobody is questioning US aid to Egypt, Lebanon and other useless money.

Those Americans who are still blaming Israel for attack on the USS Liberty, a sophisticated intelligence gathering vessel, during the Six Day War, must read the articles in this letter and ask questions: Why US did not inform Israel about location of the vessel, in spite the assurances, that were given to Israel in advance that there were no US ships in the war zone? Who was the USS Liberty spying for? Definitely not for Israel!

Defending Europe. US and Israeli anti-missile systems are scheduled to be fully integrated by 2013. There is a hope that David's Sling will be ready in two years. At the same time, Israel must consider the pros and cons for its strategic position of filling a front-line role in the American missile shield planned for the east European countries. (Destroying rocket launchers and nuclear facilities in Iran, Lebanon and Syria would be faster and more effective solution. But, one must have political will and integrity!)

Extending the War to Judea and Samaria. Hamas has made it clear that the barrage of Qasam rocket attacks launched at western Negev communities from Gaza is only the beginning. Hamas military chief Mohammed Jabari has instructed all West Bank cells to launch suicide attacks in Israeli towns immediately. Sniper teams are directed to target roads on West Bank as well as Jerusalem and the Sharon district. The order advises the cells to do the best they can. Soviet-made Grad missiles, with a 22km range, and Katyusha rockets have been added to the Gaza arsenal since the Withdrawal of Israel from Gaza.

Treason is Still in Progress. During discussions at the World Economic Forum in Jordan, Vice Premier Shimon Peres said Israel would offer a counterproposal to the Arab peace initiative. Arab League chief Amr Moussa said the Israeli offer would not be considered seriously unless it was reasonable. (“Reasonable” in Arabic has only one meaning - destruction of Israel!)

Time to Sweep All Garbage out of Gaza. A 35-year-old Jewish woman was killed last Monday evening by Qasam in the southern Israeli town of Sderot. Five rockets were fired at the southern town at around 8pm. Two landed south of Ashkelon, one landed in Sderot and two in the western Negev. An hour and a half later, three additional rockets were fired from Gaza, landing near one of the kibbutzim in the western Negev. Two more rockets were fired at 10pm. (For how long will Jews remain hostages in their own country? It is time to free our land from Arab occupation!)

End of "Political Correctness"? Respected journalists from Yediot Acharonot and Haaretz have written that return to Gaza is the only solution - lending an air of "political correctness" to the simultaneous ideological call by settlement leaders and Gush Katif expellees to return to Gush Katif. (The return of Jews to Gaza is not enough. Arab terror will continue if this cancer is not removed!)

The War is Global. Hizbullah militants in Venezuela call their fight against the United States a "holy war" and post photographs of would-be suicide terrorists with masks and bombs. There are also web sites for Hizbullah in Chile, El Salvador, Argentina, and most other Latin American countries. (Any relocation of Muslim refugees must be done internally within the 60 Muslim countries.)

Quote of the Week:

"It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it." - Gen. Douglas MacArthur.

"The Siniora government is fighting against a very tough extremist foe," (Israel not?) "But Lebanon is doing the right thing to try to protect its population, to assert its sovereignty and so we are very supportive of the Siniora government and what it is trying to do." - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said. – Even after the years of rocked attacks, the Israel does not enjoy such an unconditional support from USA!

Recognition of Israel’s Rights, Finally. United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said last Tuesday morning that Israel had the right to defend herself and that the Qasam rocket attacks on the South were a direct violation of international law. (Every country of the world has this right and does not have to look for special dispensation from UN. Only Israel ‘must’ seek approval.)

Arming the Enemy. Military sources report Israel has already given Fatah arms, and for the last six months has being sending ammo to keep Mahmoud Abbas’ terrorists kill-capable. (The idiocy of the Israeli government is endless!)

Feminine Touch of Islam. Islamic Jihad released a video clip in which a high-ranking Jihad official said that his organization has prepared dozens of female suicide bombers who were eager to blow themselves up along with IDF troops. (Will Mohamed provide every one of them with 72 male virgins as well? The gender equality must be enforced, even in heaven!)

PA Tax Revenue. Knesset Member Yisrael Hasson (Yisrael Beiteinu party) said he will introduce a bill to require that tax revenues collected by Israel for the Palestinian Authority (PA) be used to help Qasam rocket victims. (The bill also must include a provision for the creation of a fund for the future relocation of Arabs from Jewish land.)

UN Criticizes Lack of Transparency in PA. A recent United Nations report on economic aid to the Palestinian Authority criticizes the PA for lacking transparency in its transactions. The report showed that aid to the PA had risen from $349 million to $900 million (UN only) between 2005 and 2006 despite an international boycott on Hamas. (How about the UN’s transparency and accountability for facilitating Arab terror and international hostility against Israel?)

Lebanon: Fight at Refugee Camp. Lebanese government troops (indiscriminately) blasted a Palestinian refugee camp with artillery and tank fire while battling Islamist militants. Twenty-three soldiers and 19 militants died in the clashes, which erupted before dawn on the edge of the Nahr al-Bared camp and in the nearby Sunni Muslim city of Tripoli in north Lebanon. Hundreds of Lebanese applauded at the army as its tanks shelled the camp. (For over half of the century the UN has been fostering Islamic terror. Even th Lebanese have had enough. Most of the news agencies did not put “Refugee Camp” in their headlines!)

Tactical Negotiating before the War. Mossad Director Dagan said Syria is indicating a willingness to enter into negotiations with Israel strictly as a tactical maneuvering during preparation for war. (The same tactic was used by Egypt in 1967.)

It is not Safe in PA-Controlled Areas. Hundreds of other PA Arabs have been killed or wounded due to the internal fighting between Fatah and Hamas, despite the so-called ‘unity’ coalition. There are no foreign journalists in Gaza. Thousands of PA residents are lining up to apply for visas that will enable them to live in other countries. (But bloodthirsty thugs are staying behind!)

Another Jerusalem Day has Passed. The US embassy is still in Tel-Aviv, despite a 12-year-old Congressional bill calling for the American embassy to be located in the capital. Since then, every President has exercised a waiver in the bill allowing the move to be deferred for a renewable period of six months. (When will the hypocrisy end?)

Pollard - Betrayal by US Justice.

US Ambassador to Israel Richard Jones made remark last week: "Pollard took money and sold out his country... The fact that he wasn't executed shows that he was treated mercifully." MK Uri Ariel wrote to Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni: "Israel was forced to employ Pollard as its agent," Ariel continued, "only because America betrayed our trust and hid critical information from us regarding chemical weapons and anti-Israeli terrorist plots in Arab nations, in blatant violation of agreements we had with the US which we kept in full...”

"For spying for a friendly country," Ariel continued, "no one has ever received a sentence even close to the sentence that Pollard has served thus far - 22 years! ... The remarks by Jones border on anti-Semitism and a hostile attitude towards Israel...” (Even Soviet spies, during the Cold War, received better treatment from US justice. Is this the behavior of a true friend?)
